What is VoxMapp?
VoxMapp is a socially driven and tech-based project supporting accountability and good governance through data collection and citizen participation. Our tools, mobile apps, online software, and methodologies, were designed to respond to situations of crisis in challenging environments, by helping manage and solve issues efficiently. Our tools and methodologies are useful for a multitude of actors from governments, to development stakeholders and civil society organizations. Our solutions concentrate the best of human participation and digital tools for improving decision-making, increasing accountability, and optimizing development opportunities.
What products do VoxMapp offer?
VoxMapp is mainly composed of four products that can be used independently or combined according to the client needs:
- VOXMAPP Baseline allows to collect cross-sectional data along with media, geolocation and other metadata. It is best used for mapping and creating baseline or endline datasets.
- VOXMAPP Feedback is used for collecting longitudinal data with a regular inflow of data and updates. It is best used for panel studies, for participatory initiatives, and for assessing the quality of services.
- VOXMAPP Management integrates the VOXMAPP environment in one place. It is a tool to manage data collections, visualize data, track actions and workflows, and plan your projects’ next steps.
- VOXMAPP Services offers tailored programmatic advisory to your projects, as well as consultancy services on working with data and communities for humanitarian and development purposes.
What type of data can VoxMapp collect?
VoxMapp tools can be tailored to your needs allowing you to collect survey data, media, GPS coordinates, metadata, and to connect with other measurement technologies (e.g. 3D cameras, water purity sensors), etc.
What is a data point?
A data point is a geopositioned set of information (survey, media, metadata, GPS coordinates). The data points can be viewed, edited, shared, joined in paths, among others.
How can a new data point be created?
To create a new data point you must have a “Baseline” or “Management” account. Then you need to click on the “+” button on the main menu located at the bottom of the map page. Click on “Pin on map” and select the location where you wish to create your data point. To select the location, you can 1. Use your current location, 2. Drag and drop to locate manually, or 3. Use the search bar to input an address or latitude/longitude coordinates.
When the point is in the desired location, click on “Save” or “Discard”. After the point has been created you can edit it, add media, and assign a survey.

GPS location information and tracking or surveyors?
Not only can you collect geolocated information associated with each survey submission, but also our GPS tracking tool allows you to follow the path and speed of your enumerator during their working day. The GPS data is captured even when there is no connectivity, and sent to the server later. You can visualize this through Tableau dashboards or directly in VoxMapp Management. It will help you address issues as they occur and pinpoint data issues to be solved.
Are quality checks customisable?
Collecting high quality data is only possible with the right tools and thorough supervision. Using a digital tool, if working properly, is already helpful in checking and solving issues as they occur. Quality checking mechanisms must be thought of since the survey design moment: you can decide to include GPS tracking, GPS location, questionnaire duration, logical constraints, skipping patterns and validations to avoid human error. Once you receive the data you can extract it to your preferred statistical software to perform high frequency checks, or set up automated checks in VoxMapp Management. The platform allows you to flag entries based on customizable checks, and generate daily automated reports to be sent to your field coordinators.
